2016 platinum with less than 10,000 miles. Check engine light comes on frequently but goes off within 1 to 5 days. No codes. Anyone having this issue? I suspect the cap-less gas filler.

Someone is full of it. If it happens again I would make a trip to another stealership.
I agree, but the next dealership is 25 miles away. I think I'll get AutoZone to run an OBD. But I still wonder if it's the problematic cap-less fuel filler. Thanks

FOr about USD $80, I recommend owners to purchase an OBDLink MX reader and download Forscan.
These two combined allows a more detailed error code review, along with module programming,

That sounds like a plan, and sounds like I'll get good use of that. What will module programming allow me to do?

Is it better then the 3 dollar ebay ELM327 that it probably uses? or does the $80 OBDlink MX use another chipset?

Provided the "Chinese" OBD reader has a canbus switch, it should be the same in terms of accessing all of the modules.
I only recommended the MX, as it is proven but thousands of drivers (me included) and is stable without any disconnection or module programming issues (we pay almost double the price of an MX up here in Canada).

I think there have only been a couple posts about the 'capless' fuel filler on this Forum. Doesn't seem to be an issue here.

OK. There is a you tube video put on by a Ford employee showing how to use the funnel supplied in the explorer spare tire area to insert it into the fuel spout numerous times and use WD40 to clean out and clear the code. And the engine light came on right after the dealer filled the tank when I bought it last month, and again after my wife filled the tank. Both times I was able to clear the engine light by using that ridiculous funnel method. My wife called to tell me the light is on again, so I'll see if I can clear it once again. But this is getting old. I don't look forward to forcing the dealer to replace the fuel neck since they have destroyed something on my previous exploder every time we brought in in. The next nearest dealer is 25 miles away and the one right here in town is the largest in Georgia. I think they got that way from service revenue.

I have the MX, it works really well. If you don't plan on fiddling with the vehicle or playing around with Forscan (which is backwards hacked software still in testing stages) I would just buy those 20-30$ wired scanners with built in display.

There are some instances when a CEL will come on and then go off on its own and after X amount of time of being off, the code will not stay saved. So your dealer could be telling the truth. Every light does not store a hard code that requires a reset.

That's kinda what I'm thinking. Ford loves charging a diagnostic fee when they know half the time the gas cap ( old style ) is simply not tight. Maybe the CEL senses a problem with the closure of the capless vent that goes off when the vent finally seals itself. IDK? The last time my wife filled up, the CEL came on within a few miles. I got in and drove the hell out of it in sport mode, paddle shifting the whole time, and the light went off. Maybe I'll just have to do this every single time the stupid light comes on? Now I finally have a legitimate reason to drive it like a rental? Darn!
