Hello all,
first I would like to say sorry if this somewhere else I couldn't fine anything on it.
I have a 98 explorer 4.0 sohc, eddy. I got a check engine light for the maf, fuel to lean, so I changed the maf and cleared the code, no joy. then on x-mas day it stopped running all together. so I changed the fuel filter and pump. it starts and runs good. but last night on my way home the from work the engine light came on again and its the same codes as before. tried clearing it no go it stayed there. its running good so far. any help would be nice. I haven't had a lot time with these engines so thanks. I will check back later on my lunch brake.

yea I believe so. it's saying banks 1 and 2 are lean fuel.

Most likely you need to replace your upper and lower intake manifold O-rings. On the SOHC engine they tend to leak air when they get old and dried out. Very common problem with this engine. Also check for other vacuum leaks, the PCV elbow is another common source for vacuum leaks.

Thank you for the info, I will look into that and see if it fixes it.

I will try the other stuff and if that don't work I will try the smoke through the booster. I will post what I find out. thanks for the help guys.

A smoke test is one of the best way to find a vacuum leak, but I wouldn't push smoke through the brake booster hose unless I was sure the brake booster is not the source of the leak. Other than that, it really doesn't matter where you put the smoke in as all the vacuum lines are fed from the same source.
