Check Engine Light!! Noise over Bumps

OH Great, I knew it would happen sooner or later. My 1998 EB 5.0 AWD is getting grumpy. The CEL comes on after about 15 minutes of driving, it flashes for a couple of minutes then just stayes on.

The truck misses and surges a little from take off, but seems to run normal, but with a slightly noticable loss of power. No other problems running wise.

I'm going to Auto Zone tonight to have them read it, what should I be looking for??

Also I have a annoying rattling coming from the front end of the EX, when I hit bumps and slowely over curbs it makes a top and bottom noise like it hits going up and down. I checked the ball joints seem fine...

It's probably 2 different problems, but they could be related.

With the codes we'll know more. At the moment I'm guessing something with the ignition: bad coil, wires, or plugs.

Clunking could be sway bar end links. Also, upper ball joints..

Engine MISS

Code says number 4 cylinder is a missfire...

What is my next course of action??

Had that problem. It was my coil pack. I'd make sure the plugs/wires are good first. Then swap the two coil packs and see if the miss fire is on a different cylinder after that. If it is... it's your coil pack. I've replaced both of mine (at different times) already.

The noise could be your Kevlar Torsion bar adjusters. There is a thread called "Replaced Your Torsion Bars" by Robert - search for it. I just replaced mine, they allow the torsion bars to pivot. Mine were worn to the metal!!!
