Check Engine Light On HELP!!!!

well i was driving on the hight way goin bout 75Mph and the check engine light came on, i took it to Auto Zone and they told me the EGR had exesive flow and the code number that came up was P0402 i really need to get this fixed any help would be great :exp: :roll:

i would start by removing the egr and cleaning it,check the vaccum supply to the valve also, after reinstalling the valve i would reset the pcm and drive like you always do and see if it comes back on if it does then you need to replace a componet in that "system" but i would bet that it is dirty and is staying stuck open

where is the EGR located and what does it look like so i can pull it out and clean it :roll:

it is located at the back of the throttle plate assmbly it appears to have an electrical and vaccum connection/if you follow the intake hose from the air box to the throttle plate and then back towards the fire wall you will find it the best way to know what you are looking for is to go to the parts store and ask to see one for your truck!!!!
