just bought 1996 4x4 eddie bouer 4 door check engine light is on and will not go out tried eveything in the oners book what cold be the problem any help would be helpfull thanks trevor...

You need to have the code read and cleared using an OBD-2 code reader. Autozone will do this for free, you can also buy code readers at the store or online.

You need to have the code thatis illuminating the CEL determined. With the code(s), the folks here will be able to help you.

according to the local autozone, they do not read codes for free in CA as they were banned form doing it because it caused a lot of flack from the shops so the BAR put a stop to it (according to associate Patrick @ the Autozone in Union City, CA)

Yep, that'll read OBD II. I have one that is similiar. That's a good price from Harbor Freight, by the way, as cheap as any I've seen.......
