Check Engine Light

I have a 2001 XLT that has hit 80K on the miles. The other day the check engine light came on while my wife was driving it. She turned it off to go inside a store and when she started it back up it did not come on. Is there some kind of trigger that makes the light turn on when you hit a certain mileage?

The CEL was illuminated by a sensor reading an abnormal value.

I'm guessing I should take it in so they can hook it up to a diagnostic machine to see where the problem is?

Without knowing the code(s) illuminating the CEL, any attempt to repair would be a crap shoot at best. Get the code(s) and post, we will help you then.
