I replaced intake gaskets and most other things to get the check engine light to stay off! It was off for about a month and then started going on and off and then staying on again!
Yesterday I was driving home and it got real loud! After checking exhaust, found it blew the oring gasket between the muffler and catalytic converter. When this happened the check engine light went off, so I replaced the doughnut and now the light has stayed off! Dont understand! Oh I did not tell that this is on my 2000 explorer with 40 ohv v6 with 193000 on it! Thanks

Seems like just a coincidence that it was only a month between your repair and needing the exhaust gasket replaced.

If you had not mentioned the gasket, only that the light came back on, then I would have suggested checking and retorquing the upper manifold as it can sometimes take some time to settle in.

Otherwise, if the problem returns it would be good to list the specific OBD2 codes.
