Check Engine Question Shift Motor

I have removed my shift motor while i get the replacement and have the car manually in 2wd. The 4WD lights still flash (due to the shift motor and sensor issues) but the check engine has come on as well (within 20 miles of the removal). Have not used the scanner yet but was wondering if the two could be related or if they must be different issues.... Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Did you disconnect any wireing? If so, the light is most likely from the speed sensor.

I disco'ed all wiring. I unpluged the main harness and cut all sensor related wires that conected to the motor.
