Hey first off to everybody hello, this is my first post, and i have a stock 98 explorer, but right now i have a question about my friends mercury mountaneir its a 97 with a v8 engine and his check engine light came on i was able to check to code with a buddy's tool and it was dtc number p0153 which was a slow response of a o2 sensor, bank2 sensor 1, my question is where exactly is that sensor located and i should just get a new one or if i might be able to clean that one with carb cleaner, thanks

Bank 2 is the driver side sensor 1 is the one located in the manifold before the cat. I am not sure about cleaning it.

I am not a believer in cleaning them. After you go to the trouble to get that sucker out, just replace it.

I also doubt whether cleaning the O2 sensor would be effective. I think the problem is that the "contamination" becomes inbedded (diffuses) into the ceramic element of the sensor. I don't know of any solvent that would be able to get into the pores of the ZrO2 ceramic.
