My check engine keeps coming on. I have been driving it like this for about 1-2 months. It has had no trouble, not over-heating or anything. I changed my oil with about 4,000 miles on it. But it still comes on. I an not at all a mechanic. But it seems to run fine for me. What could be wrong?

Thanks, guys, and girls

Probably just a worn out O2 sensor. Those are the first things that tend to set off the light.

Need more info. How many miles. What kind of mileage (mpg) are you getting.
if you have 70K-80k on the odometer, I agree with kilroy as the O2 sensors being suspect, but could be some other things to do first.
also, along with miles on it, how long ago was a tune-up done.
could be the time!

it could be a few different things. Depends on "symptoms". It might seem normal but then again you might be getting hit with like 10 mpg fuel consumption or lack of power.

I would get the codes scanned. a friend of mine had a check engine light on his 96 and it was the O2 sensors, but since they were bad it ended up burning out his cats too because of increased fuel flow. The cats were $800, but they are under a 8 year/80K warentee.
