99 Explorer XLT4.0 ohv :(
recently the check engine light came on in our 99 explorer and i brought it to autozone and got them to run the codes. Well it came up with 2 codes one for the sparkplug wire or 1 for the sparkplugs. So we got the plugs and were going to try that. BUT the guy at autozone said they have to delete the code after i install to sparkplugs to be sure the problem is fixed. Now is this right or wrong do i have to go back and get them to delete the codes or will the light go off once i put in the plugs? btw the thing was running fine the light came on out of no where. Its odd that it gave such an advance notice of the plugs being bad.

Disconnect the negative batter cable, turn the switch for the lights to on and that should drain any power left in the electrial system and clear your ECU... Oh, leave it that way for about 20 min just to make sure, then hook it back up and you should be good to go...

ok i will try that.

Without the actual codes, it will be impossible to offer help.
