I bought some new seats from E-bay that were pulled from a second gen Explorer. It was a very big pain for me to install them because from what I've heard they changed the bolt pattern in 92' through 2001. Since I have a 91' I was screwed. I had to design new brackets for the frot of both seats to bolt in; luckily the rear bolts bolted right in though. I also had to lengthen the seat belt thing as you can see in the picture (I don't know what it's called). I'll probably have some more pictures of the brackets later but I had a friend make them out of 1/4" steel.

Your lucky if you ever do get new seats. Yours will bolt right in.

Hey, those are my seats! j/k ;) Looks really nice, biggs. Does the lumber adjuster still work?

Here's the old drivers side seat. If anyone has any interest I'm willing to sell them. As you can see they are pretty beat up but again if anyone is interested tell me.

Yeah, it still works really well. The seats give a lot more support then the old ones. It almost feels like a new truck. They actually are out of a 97' Explorer:) .

This is just a picture of my Ex that I took while taking the pictures of the seats.

Thats really cool. I'm interested in the brackets you made cause I also have a 91 and want new seats. I almost spent $1100 to have mine redone but I still wouldn't have power. Post more pics if you can.

Lookin GOOD!!

Were your old seats powered?? I was just curious because i want to install new power seats, and mine arent currently powered.

I could send you the drawings we made of the brackets and you could have them made somewhere but I can't guarantee that they will work because your Explorer might be slightly different then mine. The way I did it was I got some thin aluminum plates that were relatively easy to bend yourself but stayed in place once you did bend them. I bolted in the new seats just in the back and then just figured the front brackets from there.

My old seats were powered but all you would have to do is run a power wire and ground it; that's all there is to it.

Hey sorry it took me so long to respond; I just got back from Cancun:cool: . That wire is for the seat belt light. The one that comes on when you don't have your seat belt on when you first start the engine. The Power and ground wire would be located underneath the seat through the carpet.
We should get together sometime and do a trail around here.

Here is an update. I finally got the center armrest reupholstered and put everything back in. It only cost $25 to get it done at this local seat cover place.

This was the only thing I didn't like about it. So if anyone ever decides to do something like this make sure you have them join it underneath the armrest and use the same color velcro as the cover.
