Check this out...need some advice.

I'm looking to buy an 01 Explorer Sport Trac and I'm needing advice on what to look for.

There's the link, I know the mileage is pretty high, but that doesn't really scare me away. I'm hoping to learn about some quirks that this generation explorer might have that I should look for. I actually test drove it earlier and it felt pretty good. It had a slight pull to the right, not terrible so i'm not sure if it's tires or some kind of steering linkage issue. Either way I told the guy I'd want it fixed before buying. Let me know what you think please.


I have people on all sides saying "get a dodge"..."go chevy"...etc, I just need to figure out if this is a decent deal or a junker for a low price. I want to bring it to a mechanic, so we'll see what happens.

check tire pressure, and frame too.
transmission issues??? do a brake stand or 2, then see if it still works.

carfax reports are worthless, sometimes they don't get updated for years.

That's not a terribly low price considering year and mileage. There are some around here for that money. Have a qualified mechanic look it over. Timing chain rattle and trans condition are focus points. Not a bad looking Trac.

Tire pressure......... frame......... yeah, ok.

Carfax IS worthless!

I really wanted to check and see if that price was outrageously good or not, but I think, either way...first order of business will be to take it to a mechanic. Thanks!
