Just curious but what is a cherry bomb?

A few members have glasspacks and like them, but I've heard way too many that sound like crap to ever recommend it. A decent catback setup will not only improve sound, but also performance. Once you pay for the glasspack, tailpipe, and installation, you're at about $80-100. $200 will get you a custom, professionally installed catback system. IMO it's well worth it for the better sound and performance.

My exhaust recommendations:

i have heard glasspacks on several different brands of V6's before, and all sounded VERY VERY HIDEOUS. just my opinion, but save the $20 and keep your stock exhaust. the 8" tip high flow fart pipe ricer honda exhuasts sound much, much better. if that gives you any idea how terrible it will be...

or else just stick a eight inch coffee can on over your stock exhaust pipe (that would be really ricer, yet it would also resemble a certain oem manufacturers idea of "cool" exhaust for their performance vehicles)

really depends on the quality of the glasspack and the engine. my friend had a 74 Dodge Dart with the 225 Slant Six, that sounded like an angry lawnmower from 3 blocks away.

my roommates 76 Chevy C-10 had one that was ultra quiet, had very good tone and sounded very good.

in my opinion the 90 degree V-6s sound much better than inline or 60 degree sixes with glasspacks. They have the burble that the other designs don't have.

My 65 Chevy Impala had glass packs.
Man , that thing sounded bad a$$ !!!!!!!!!!
But that was a 283 V8

Cherry bombs are ok if you are mostly interested in sound, at the lowest price. I know a guy that had them on a 2.8L (V6) Camaro, and it sounded ok, but a little loud.

The only cheaper and louder exhaust is to get a hacksaw and chop off the muffler.

There's a Ranger running around here with the 2.9 and personally it falls under the Angry Lawnmower sound than any decent sound.

If I could replicate the sound of my 2.8 that was in my 6000 with it's somewhat rusted-out muffler I would, it sounded GOOD! had a nice growl to it, but it was also a Midas El-Cheapo model.

I am looking for a nice but cheap cat-back exhaust...I checked out Magnaflow and theirs looked OK though I am more intrested in Flowmaster...anyone have either of those and what do you think performance/sound wise?
