seeing noone else has commented on this ill say something stupid.. id maybe try it if i was in your positon.
Seeing its apart. turn ur lights and and get that chime noise happening.. then go looking and puilling things apart untill you find it, just keep digging towards the sound... just beware of the airbag sensors!!!! :D :thumbdwn:

Its in the GEM unit between the steering wheel and radio..

Pull off radio bezel and its mounted to the left. Its a black box about 4X6" called a GEM. Its a sensitive area..i would'nt just go pulling plugs as mentioned above. There are mods to disable the chime and still have dome lights when doors ajar.

Can you elaborate on this. I would like to get rid of the chimes but still want the other stuff to work. I allready tried just unplugging it and that don't get it.

What I'd really like to do is put a swith on the dash so I can turn if off/on. Normally it is sorta nice to remember the lights are on, for instance, but other times, I like to turn it off!!!!

thanks...

I9 Have Done It On Numerous Vehicles And Just Not On My Explorer. I Used To Search Under The Dash Till I Could Feel What Was Making The Vibrating Noise. And I Would Not Unplug It Just Squeeze The Crap Out Of It Till It Stopped Screaming..
I Have Been Wanting To Do It Forever On My 2 Explorers
