I have researched the threads on chips and have 1 question. I buying an 03 XLT monday and want to put oversize tires on it. I was told that you could use a programmer or chip and give it your tire sizes so your milage and speedo would be correct. The sites i've seen for chip do not include the 03model with tire size option. Which route should i go for my situation. Thanks for the help

I checked that site and the mod is interesting. However it doesn't mention anything about changing tire size. Do i need different equipment to tell my ECU that i have bigger tires?

if your 03 is chippable, it is possible to calibrate your speedo for the tire size diffrence. i actually plan on sending in my chip to brian this winter when i decide to put on my 30x9.5 tires on.

chippabble??? LOL
How would i tell if my chip is programmable?

i mean that the 3rd gens might not be able to have a chip installed. im not positive.

you can choose different types of chips from apten. a single program, dual, program, etc. and by programmable i mean get custom programs for what you want including tire size.

I think the 03's and up are PTEC computers, which do not work the same, and you must send brian your ECU so he can flash it. I don't *think* you get the option of switching programs and everything, and you will be without your car for a little while, but I know the performance programs really work, so I would say it is worth it.

once theyve removed the place you would put a chip, you usually flash it through the service port under the dash on the drivers side. You cant have multiple programs.

The only way to have multiple programs is to buck up for a Predator programmer and have it set up with all the programs you would want. You save the stock programming to its memory for when it has to go in for service..then you can just plug it up and swap programs.
