Hi Guy's i am new to this, i have a 97 4l ex, engine maint light is on the dash and it will start but the revs are up and down, its fine when warm, any suggestions?

It's a common problem. It will be your inlet manifold gaskets/O rings. There is an upper and lower set. Could be one or the other or both. Best to replace the lot cost around £30.

Do a search for oom12 kit or 00m12 kit. this kit has the upper and lower intake gaskets but also contains an updated cam tensioner and an oilway restrictor pencil. You can get the kit for around £50. You may as well do the tensioner and pencil (unless this has already been done) as you will already have access with the intake off.
