'99 Explorer XLT
Hey,

On my 99 XLT the exhaust pipe doesn't have a nice looking color/finish. Kind of a rusty black look. I'd like to get a chrome exhaust tip that would slide over it. I'd rather not cut the tail pipe. Does anyone where I can get one that will fit over the factory exhaust pipe it has somewhat of a slope as you know. Anyone have pictures of one?

Thanks

As far as I know any Autozone or Pepboys should have exhaust tips.

This is true. But I don't think they have the correct style for my application.

I just had some exhaust work done and got a nice chrome tip put on for 12.00 and that included the tip. Granted they cut my stock tip a little so it didn't point so far down but it looks really nice.

I could get you a MAC tip. They are ($24.50)straight cut or ($29.50)angle cut with rolled edges. Sizing would be 2.5" inlet-3.5" outlet. I am aware the factory tailpipe is roughly 2.25" diameter but a good exhaust shop could definately install the tip.

Please don't stick one of those tips on there with the set screw or that only covers 1/2 of the exposed pipe... Ugh... :)

When I had my Flowmaster 50 put on I also had a stainless Flowmaster tip welded on. If you look at the pictures in the link posted in my signature you can see what it looks like.

Ford racing makes them for the fusion. May fit over the explorer pipe..they look good too.

Whatever style you choose, opt for stainless steel.

I use a Gibson stainless slash tip on my Paseo.

Make sure you get a really big one, so it sounds like a ricey fart-can on an import... then it'll be cool! (Yeah, right!)

Especially if you do away with the muffler.... :D
