I had this problem before. My IAC would hum really loud. Last time i fixed it by changing the filter inside the black cap on the side of the IAC. The noise hadnt come back for about 5 months. Today i decided to clean my MAF and IAC. Once i put the IAC back on the truck it hummed louder than ever. I checked the filter again and even when i attach the cap on with no filter in it, it still humms. Is it time for a new IAC?

i had the same thing happen to me. i had to replace it in the end but i did notice that right after i cleaned it it hummed. but then it went away after a little while. maybe it has somehting to do with taking it off. i would wait a little while or at least maybe until tommorow before you pay for a new one. if it hums tommorow then i would say 99% sure that it has to be replaced. good luck.

Thanks alot. Ill waite on it to see what happens. If it still does it than i guess ill spend the money, cause there is no way in hell i can drive this thing around making all that noise. Sounds like im laying on my horn.

mine all started when i put the mac intake in and it was terrible. i replaced it and no problems since. best $67 i ever spent. i also heard it's best to just get it from your local ford dealership rather than autozone or something. thats just what i heard so thats what i did. good luck.

Do yo remember the IAC Part number and did you get the one that can be taken apart? They apparently have 2, one you can clean and the other you can't.

i don't remember the part #, i got it off the 3 sides of the front of the IAC, but i don't know if they even needed it. if you mean take apart by being able to take the little black cap off then yes, but i don't know if thats what you mean. there is nothing else other than the black cap that i can take off. good luck.

The one with the black cap is the non-cleanable part, exactly like the one I have.
