What is the best way to clean the MAS without damaging it. I took it off and it looks clean. Do I need to get one of those star, torx bits (what ever they are called) with the little hole in it and take that black plastic part off? This is all new to me. I am used to the old pickups where you could pitch a tent under the hood even if it had a big block in it. Also, I looked in the throttle body and it looks fairly clean, is there anything in there I need to be looking for that might need a cleaning. Thanks, 68viper

MAS

yes..you do need a torque spit for clean the MAS. There is a section in "exlporer tips" on "servicing the MAS". There seems to be a problem with that part of the site, and I don't remember everything it says, but I would check that out as soon as it is available again on the site. I do remember needing the spits and it tells you exactly the best way to clean it!

It's back..so here's the link man

The way that I do it is to take off the sensor and there will be two little prongs on it that look about like a light bulb. Gently spray those two prongs with some carb cleaner, and let the sensor dry before reinstalling. I've done this several time it so far it's helped each time.

I'd also like to welcome you to the site. I'm sure you'll find just about any answer you'd need here.

What is the answer to removing the black plastic coating on the head of the second star screw on the MAS?
