Lately my wife has noticed a clicking nosie when the fan is turned on (not A/C).
I checked and it appears to be something on the passenger side either from under hood or under dash.

Almost like a relay clicking on/off. the RPMs rise and fall a bit too almost like the A/C compresser is cycling on/off, but the A/C isnt on just the fan. More noticable when using the rear fan(for the rear seat passengers?

Any ideas.??

Thanks,
Doug

The A/C compressor does cycle on and off when the heat or A/C is on.

It does this when just the FAN is on as well???

Im stumped. I could see if it was when A/C was on it would indicate low charge but when just the fan is on?

any other ideas?

Even when the fan is on. It is annoying, but normal.

Thanks at least Im not going crazy!

My Explorer does the same thing, but it only does it when I have the heat on the defrost or floor/defrost selection. I was told that it is the A/C kicking on and off, so the windshield doesn't get too hot with the defroster on.

I just unplugged mine:D

Hi everyone I hear clicking whether I put the heat on or not. It just clicks and clicks all the time, what is that and why is it doing that?

Sounds like you have a bad blend door actuator. Pretty common problem and there should be some threads about it.
