My wife's 2004 EB Explorer has a clicking noise coming from the rear cargo area on the drivers side. I pulled off the vented cover on the side panel and behind it there is what appears to be a round shaped motor with a power source connected to it. I unplugged the connector and it still clicks when the ignition switch is turned on. Any ideas?

Rear blend door actuator. Adjust between cold and hot on the rear air, it should stop as you adjust it. There's a couple of threads on here of how to fix it.

Welcome aboard!! :salute:

Definitely Sounds like rear blend door actuator. Here is a thread for replacing it: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1844079

Check you PM. I have sent info for removing the interior trim panels. ;)

Good luck getting it sorted. :biggthump

I am having the same problem (clicking from rear actuator). Has anybody found a thread with detailed pictures of the repair? I found one link
Thanks,

Check the link under BigRondo's post just above yours and at that link page, look at post #8 by David7896, it has photos of the rear actuator repair that might help you. Post #2 has detailed instructions on the repair.

To update, thats my blog link, the pics are back. The photo hosting site lost a bunch of them after Sandy and recovered them (FINALLY).

I encounter this problem today :-( ... but thanks to YOU all for your comments / help! Now I can fix it on my own!
