brother in laws 2002 mountaineer constant clicking actually seems louder than clicking , coming from the rear drivers side panel .
does it with key on or while running but stops with key off .
its all wheel drive an has no selector switch for 4wd.
4.0 and auto

any idea's ?

i tried to search but got nothing .

It is probably his RAP module or something that is clicking. Moving to the General Explorations section.
 






what the hell is a RAP modual and what does it do ?

can he still drive it ?
 






RAP module is the box for that controls the alarm/keyless entry system. Does it seem like its coming from the area where the jack is located?

edit: Just realized its a 2002. Not sure what it is.. I don't have a 3rd generation vehicle sorry.
 






comes from above the rear drivers side tire behind the panel ,was goin down the road, did a uturn to drop the kids off and it started clicking and hasnt stoped .
 






Does he have the tow package?
