When I go to take off in my Mercury Mountaineer AWD I hear a clicking noise. Does it once when I am just getting started to go around 10 MPH. Sounds like clicking or shift sound in left front axle area. No clue what. Any ideas?? Please Help!!!!

Sounds like your CV is going. Mine was doing the same thing. Mostly at slow speeds while turning. It was a $70 part from Autozone and about an hour in my driveway to replace.

Did You replace both sides?? How hard is it to do? Thanks for the input

I would replace both sides AND the boots too!!! If you can do it your self its worth the extra $$$! Outside of normal wear the boots covering them get torn or riped and let in road dirt which ruins the CV! Even if the CV's are new! New boots are a MUST if you ever see a tear or rip in them!!!

Thanks for all the input. I will be going back home this weekend and working on a car. Also anyone know any cheap places to get windshields?

Yeah, when I said $70 for the part.. I mean the entire assembly. The CV with both boots, etc. I only did the one side because I had about 5k on the truck only and the only reason the one went out was because the boot was torn.

The install was cake. Jefe has a writeup about removing the front differential and thats what I went off of. He basically goes a step or two further than you need to.
