Clunking in 4wd

When i am in 4wd i feel a clunking every 20 feet. It feels like its coming from behind my seat.

just under your seat is the t-case, maybe you got a prob there. try 4x4 with the front shaft removed. (don't know but it might be worth a shot)

It started after i went through a big mud puddle. Could that be what caused the problem?

is it all cleaned off under there? check your fluids ... diffs, transfercase...

Is that when you are in 4WD??? Or in 2WD???

Check the fluid level in the T-Case and make sure it's at the proper level and there is no contamination. (Mud or Water)

Well if you have the auto hubs, then this might help you. I believe your problem may have to do with the hubs.

I had it once before and i was able to get rid of it. The hub is not engaging the 4wd correctly and it seems to bounce in and out therefore clunking like every 20 feet or a couple tire rotations. You should hear on one side or the other(right or left) usually. It will kinda feel like its near the seat.

Whichever side it is, Take of the tire on that side and remove the auto hub assembly. Inside is where you now want to put some fresh grease. You can disassemble by removing the retaining clip and sliding off the splined washer. The plastic assembly in there is what you want to clean and grease up real well.

I would try this before taking anywhere unless you need to have a shop look at it.
