I just got my lift in a week ago, no problems with that. :D But, I hit a pothole yesterday morning on my way home and now whenever I turn left, I get a very, and I mean VERY loud clunking/thumping noise! The garage I go to checked everything before I got it back, so I would like some ideas as to what I just jacked up on my rig. Feedback will be greatly appreciated!!! Later - Nate

possably a cv axel but that would b a clickin noise so....

Check out your torsion bar adjuster. There have been some guys that have had this problem. Look under and see if you can see the Kevlar or like little shards of kevlar coming from above it. If it is then thats your problem. If not then well, it beats me. As for the clicking, i get that when im fully flexed and everything is twisted. Is that normal?? lol.

did you go above 2 inches with you TT?

if so maby your CV's Binding

If it is a one time popping noise when the wheel is turned, check the tie rod ends. I just replaced one of mine. The problem can show up when the suspension changed position.Have someone move the steering wheel back and forth gently and watch for up and down movement of the outer tie rods.

This has already been discussed very thouroughly in several threads that you CAN go more than 2 inches without binding the CVs. You will loose downtravel, but you wont grenade the CVs. Why would Ford make CVs that cant travel through their own suspension cycle without binding? Im not going to go into this any further, you can search and find the thread. (Most people however cannot go more than about 2 inches anyway on the stock bolts....ive got about 2.5 on mine and have not heard the first CV bind yet in about 10,000 miles.)

ok i had read alot that you can not go above like 2.1 inches on a 4x4 without binding

2 inches seems to be the "sweet spot" allowing for some downtravel and some uptravel....but the "limit" of 2 inches isnt necessarily true for all rigs. I say go as high as you want, and if you hear any clicking or popping....go back down.

lol that is always a good idea when it is too much
