code P0442

Hi, I've got code P0442 which is Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak).

The gas cap is on tight, but I notice when I take it off to get gas there is no "hissing".

Is a faulty gas cap usually the issue with this code (113k miles on truck) or do you think it is more likely the cannister vent solenoid?

Vent solenoid on my 97

Gave the 442 code which is small leak. My vent solenoid rusted open. The filter cap was so clogged that it couldn't give a large leak. Seems this area gets a lot of water spray. Metal on vent solenoid almost disintegrated. I only found the part at Ford $36 #F78X-9F945-BA. If it looks bad it probably is. Vent is normally open and closes with 12V applied. Plastic support does not come with new part so don't damage it.
