I have this 306 code 6 cyl misfire. I repalced the plugs wires and the coil. Reset the code. Code came back. So then I took it to the pros. They changed the plugs and ran some decarbonizer thrugh it. Charged 400. Code cam back a day later.Did not want to play the game with the garage who did not fix it. The explorer starts great when cold but when hot you have to crank it over many times before it will start. Almost like its flooded. Can anyone give me a hint what might be the problem?? Thanks in advance.

First of all I'd take it back to the shop since they charged you 4 bills and never even fixed the problem.

Have you checked your intake gasket? Sounds like it may be about done.

OK Ill check it tomorrow. The car repair service was prepared to make me spend more money so I bailed out. Thanks

What year Explorer do you have and which motor? Did you check compression on that cylinder?

Didnt get a chance to check compression yet but fixed the hard starting problem. The air filter was bad. Cant believe I hadnt changed it in a couple of years. Put a new one in and it starts great.

What engine? V6 or V8?
