My recently-purchased '96 XLT has the code buttons on the exterior of the driver's door (to the left of the handle). The deal is, this Explorer didn't even come with an Owners Manual - much less instructions and codes for these buttons...

Is there any way I can use them (not knowing the previous code)? Can they be re-programmed or something? And never having owned a vehicle with them - how exactly do I use them?

if im correct you can take it to the dealership and they can reprogram them...and to use them just press the code and it unlocks the doors...just make sure that you wipe the surface of it after u push the buttons....youll exchange some oil on them and itll take dirt a littl e easier and people can see what buttons u use and figure it out...but they should be able to reprogram it or tell you what it is....u live in ceder park......i live in elgin about 30 miles east of austin...we gotta meet up one day

The factory code is located on a sticker on an electronic module located toward the front of the driver's side rear jack compartment.

Good luck .....
