I can't seem to find anything too recent other than a for sale thread or two from this year. First, can i still get brackets? There's a for sale thread for uppers and lowers(with lca's) but i don't have the cash right now. Second, is it possible to get a set of adjustable coilovers to lower/lift an Explorer? I keep finding custom mounts that can compress/decompress springs, but i'm not seeing any height adjustment. If i can, what's the spring rate to use? I was looking at Ridetechs and QA1's springs and coilover shocks for my '97 Explorer, I got the auto-cross bug, and i really like the 2nd gen platform, but even at a 2.5 inch drop they think it's a roll over hazard. But, there's a Jeep Cherokee racing, so i have a little hope.

Yes. Go to ranger forums and type coil over brackets in the search bar. There is a guy selling the brackets in powder coat and raw steel for about $275.

You don't raise or lower the suspension with coil overs. If you try lifting too much with coil pre load then the ride will be very harsh. Conversely if you lower by removing too much pre load then the front will be too soft. You need to lower or lift the front suspension first, then pick the coil over for the length you need and get the correct length spring as well.

Thanks guys!

Thanks! i wasn't sure if custom mounts were like fitted coilovers for say, a Honda, where you can lower it through moving the mount up, or if they were strictly through spring compression.
