Here's the problem, Need target possibilities to check out first to minimize the amount of time I have to spend solving problem - Wind chills are running -20.

Last night started truck. Let go of key just before engine caught. Resulted in a backfire with some smoke rising up through hood. Started truck again and it instantly died.

looked under hood and found vaccume hose had blown off of brake booster. Reconnected and truck started fine. After about 20 min of hwy trip, came to a red light and truck runs real rough- gages dip as if power was about to go.

Checked out this morning and didn't see any other loose hoses or missing caps. Truck still acts like it wants to stall when it idles for a period of time- like a red light.

Plan on cleaning IAC this weekend and maf (again) will reset computer,

anything else.

I use this vechicle to commute every day - 140 miles round trip so I need to hit all possibilities.

Thanks

The backfire may have damaged the the MAF.

Thats how mine was acting with a dirty MAF. Check the wires on it.
