Got a bit of a mystery with my 95 4.0 Explorer. Cold stars are faultless, just turn the key and its running. Once warmed up and driven a while, if you park it for 20 minutes. it really gives me grief. Cranks fine but coughs skips and barely runs till you gas it and it seems to clear itself and then runs fine. Almost acts as if it was flooded. I've checked and replaced basics-plugs, wires, air filter. Any one got any thoughts ? Thanks !

had the same problem for months now doing the same thing when its cold. so bad now it wont start. i think it finally went out completely whatever it was. i dont have any ideas.did u get any codes. mine wont read

Dirty IAC maybe? Not very versed in the 4.0

I've also read that the coolant temp sensor can make this occur. I know mine is on its way out because the temp gauge is fluctuating and when its still warm it doesn't want to start. The engine dumps too much fuel into the engine and fluids it out. Have you noticed anything else going on with the truck?

I have the same problem on my 95 explorer, I was told the engine coolant temp sensor also, I have yet to replace it, but i will soon. Hopefully that will fix it
