Complete Tranny Failure??

If you want to see pictures ...check out the disassembly portion of the A4LD Diary in the useful Threads forum, that is what had failed in that transmission as well - the reverse planetary. Pretty ugly.

Just got told by the Ford dealer that all of teh forward clutches are burnt out of it and possibly the low rear as well.

I'm calling BS on that story cause the damn thing will start up and move if it just sits for 10 seconds and is restarted.

They also quoted me $1950 out the door for a rebuild of mine w/ a 12mth warranty and $3200 for a Ford reman. with a 3yr warranty.

I'm getting a second opinion because I've had 3 seperate people say it's the valve body, including the guy at the counter at Ford.
