Sell it, it's gonna die any day.

the compression test is OK BUT for this engine, they don't really tell the whole story about "health". When you loose the tensioner/cam stuff that are "infamous" for this engine, you will then likely see 0 compression. Of course, the way to avoid this is to have the "stuff" replaced. Lots of threads on this. It usually a $$$ job and people have to decide on sell/repair/rebuilt drop in/ etc.

Very good compression

Your compression test numbers are very good (high) and have little variation between cylinders (a good thing).

Continue to listen for timing chain rattle. The latest upgrades were not complete until 2002. My rear guide broke at around 150,000 miles. I suspect that using synthetic oil may increase the life of the guides. After pulling my engine and replacing my guides I installed an Accusump.

thanks for the info guys, appreciate the heads up, this is really the first time ive had to get into this stuff. I have been using the synthetic in it since about 120k just figured it was a good idea. ill do some searching on the timing chain/tensioner/cam info. anything i can check at an in home garage to see if there are any issues with "known" killers? if not i can send it over to my mechanic and let him know what to look for as well. again thx for the info.
