I was not able to pull anything up from the search.

Do you guys put any validity into the numbers that the onboard computer gives? I am mostly talking about the engine oil life part.

How does it work? Anybody care to enlighten me? 4000 miles after my oil change (going to change at 5000) it tells me that I still have 49% of my oil life left. The actually oil level is still good, and the color is still OK, but i just have a hard time believing it.

How does it come up with its numbers?

Thanks, Josh.

It's based strickly on miles, don't remember the exact amount but it's around 7000 or so iirc

Perfect. just what I needed to know, Thanks for the quick reply!

Sorry for resurrecting this.

My 99 console computer is dying, or dead.

I took it apart and where the ribbon connector connects to the board, the solder connection is loose, so it causes all sorts of alien graphics on the screen.

I tried to heat it up and resolder the connections but it didnt work. How much are these?

Can you get one from a junk yard, or are they coded to the vehicle?
