Hi, I got both my lightbulbs out of the center console light at the top of the car (next to the compass and temperture guage). Anyways the lights say A12V 10W, is that mean they are 12Volts and 10watts? Where could i get a purple/blue neonish light to replace these with? Should i paint them that color or just buy new bulbs. I am looking for a bulb more on the purplish side. Does the bulb have to be the same size also? Thanks. This thread probably belongs in the lighting forum, but i decided to post it here. Sorry bout that

well, APC might carry them, but they'd be like 10-20 bucks a bulb. I would paint them yourself. I used testors model paint when I painted mine. It works well if you use thinner with each dip of the paint brush. The only problem is your color might fade, forcing you to go through the hastle of taking the dome light off again and either trying to repaint the bulb or painting new bulbs.

could you explain what i have to do step by step, thanx, where do i buy this paint? thanx buddie

Okay, you already know how to remove the dome light assembly.
To paint the bulb: Run down to Kmart, Wal mart, etc. or any hobby store that sells car models. If you go to a hobby store, you will find a huge selection of testors and other paints, so you can find your color exactly. Buy the color paint you want, and also buy some thinner. It will come in the same little bottle as the regular paints. Just ask the employee to grab you some thinner. Get yourself a paintbrush if you don't have one. Pour a tiny amount of thinner into a small dish. Dip your paintbrush thoroughly in the paint, and then dip it into the thinner very quickly. Do this with each paint refill onto the brush. For a thinner color, use more thinner. Vice Versa for a thicker color. You will have to do multiple coats if you don't want it to fade quickly. Just plug the bulb in after each coat, and if not enough light shines through, dip the bulb in thinner after it has cooled down. Hope I was some help.

I found all different color bulbs at GI Joes yesterday. They were only 4 dollars for 2. They are made by APC.
Just thought I'd let you know.
