Convert 3rd gen rear wheel drive to 4 wheel drive?

Need some help please. Has anyone converted a non 4 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive? My current explorer has a lot of rust on body and frame. I've seen some explorers in good shape but they are not 4 wheel drive. Thank you all.

I think it would be better to widen you search area for a vehicle and travel to get it over converting a 2WD to 4WD. It can be done but, IMO, traveling to pick up a suitable 4WD vehicle is far easier, less time consuming and less frustrating.

If you have a parts or donor vehicle I don't see why you couldn't. Otherwise I agree with just getting a 4wd truck from the get-go.
