Its getting time to change the hoses in my 1999 4.0 sohc ex, and was wondering if there was a kit with all the rubber hoses for that motor and who sold it, and if not, how many hoses are there. I’m assuming the normal, upper, lower rad, two for heather core, elbow at water pump, any else….

Tks
Jim

Changed all the hoses in my X a couple of years ago. Bought them from the dealer and the cost was not any higher than from an auto parts store.

Its probably more important and cost effective to change the anti-freeze on a regular bases. (every 2 years or sooner)

Why are you changing the hoses? Are they showing signs of wear?

Truck has 100K on it now and i thought it was time to change before one blows on the side of the road, i had it happen once on my f150 at 93K and i didnt like it..

i was probing around and saw there are a bunch of hoses on the 4.0 sohc.

one lower rad
one from the pump to the thermo housing
one from the thermo housing to a metal elbow
one from the metal elbow to the upper rad
two from the heater core to metal lines
one from the metal lines to the top of the pump
one from the metal lines to a sender
one from the sender to the bottom of the pump

dam ford didnt save money on clamps or weight :D

i stoped by murrays and they just had the upper, which was wrong, and had to order the lower, didnt even list all the others, maybe the dealer is my next stop..

tks
jim
