Alright I've got a coolant leak which I originally thought was my water pump...
I replaced the pump, which despite the fact that it was not the problem really needed to be replaced soon anyway. After I swapped pumps and realised that wasnt the solution i tracked the source more carefully, and found that it was here. (see picture)

I put rvt on just before taking the picture, hoping for a temp patch just long enough to drive the couple miles to the autoparts store. Problem is I dont know the name of the part i need, i thought it was thermostat housing, but everywhere i look up that i get the pipe to the right of the red circle, which i would call the cover, but w/e. any help?
