Hi online ford peeps,
I recently replaced my Thermostat ,housing , left side temp sensor, water pump , radiator and cap on my '03 Sport Trac . The problem is now the thermostat doesn't seem to be opening , the top hose is hot and tight . the pressure releases when I flip the top of the new radiator cap . the temp gauge is not working either . Did I replace all of that and the problem was something else ... I'm at my wiltts end ... and appreciate any help in this matter .

Thanx, Ram

Is it possible there was any air left in the system? An air bubble will prevent coolant from flowing properly.

Good luck. Share what fixes it when you get there!

you did all that and it still overheats? doesn't seem like much left to replace. It might be time to take it to a professional.

Let us know what you find

coolant /overheating problem :

Hey guys ,
Thanx for the input . I did go get the motor checked out , it's been twenty years since I did any major engine work . it felt good to get dirty again and felt better when they told me it was operating correctly . It's the engine coolant temp gauge that's the culprit now . They said it was "spun" from the temp spike when it did overheat . luckily I was close to home when this happened so I was not forced to drive it that way , and there was no major damage done . I'm lookin at the dash where the cluster is thinking " how hard can this be " to put in a temp gauge ,lol. The dealer says $ 70.00 for the part , Pick-a-part says $ 5.00 .....hummm ......do I cheap out now and try to put in a used part or go for the gold ha ha ha ha ! any more ideas guyz ?

I think after all that... I would go for the gold.. used gauges might be as bad as what you have or might fail.. and if your doing it yourself.... not that bad..

but five bucks? hmm.. you could get that first... and see what it looks like. If it looks new.. then go with that.

exactly my thoughts ,Bri ..... I am getting plugs, wires today to get rid of the misfiring . the engine light keeps poppin on cause of this .Then I can concentrate on this a lil better . took it on the freewway several times ... no probs so far .
