I'm wondering if anybody has any input on wether to get the Superlift TruSpeed or the one Jet makes, for correcting the speedo.
Looking for any pros and cons of each. And seeing as how the Superlift is an like $50-$75 more expensive, if it has anything special other than the ability for 2 settings.
Oh yeah.. and this doesn't really fit here, but I don't really see a point in starting 2 topics..
What add-a-leaf do I get for my 97 Sploder? Since nothing seems to be "listed" for it, do I just get a Ranger/Bronco2/RBV one?

On my 97 I just changed the gear on the transfer case. 9 dollar part from the Ford dealer.

Do you have to open the XFer case to change this gear? Do you do this only for bigger tires? Is there a different sized gear for different tire sizes?

The gear is on the outside of the T-case where the spedometer cable attaches. There is a different number of teeth and color for different tire/gear ratios. The thread for more info is in the "Useful Threads" area.

ahhhh... for some reason I assumed it had an electronic speedo.. my bad.

Hey, what lifts/tire size are you running? Also, could you do me a small favor and measure from the ground to the top of your X? I am going with BFG's and completing the 2" suspension lift and am wanting to do a 2" body lift for clearance as well. BUT...where I work the parking deck has a 6" ceiling (very low). I'm okay if I have to remove the roof rack for daily driving.

I'm running a 3 inch body with the 2in sus. The tires are 285/75/r16's.

You assumed correctly. It does have an electronic speedometer, but it still uses a gear drive to derive the signal.

ohhhh.. gotcha. So I was only half right, lol.

if I were to change my tires to 31x10.50s before I replace the speedo gear, would that cause any major problems?

Other then your speedo and odometer being off for a few weeks or whatever....nope.

cool.. just wanted to make sure it wouldn't fudge up the ABS or AWD systems.

I rode around on my 285's for awhile without changing the gear....never noticed any problems.
