Cost for pressing out and in a bearing!

What is the most any of you have paid to have a bearing pressed out and a new one pressed in your Gen3. Specifically the rear. I have to pay $106 for one hub serviced. That sounds like robbery to me. Tell me what you think. I know price varies around the states but here that sounds insane. I will scout a new shop tomorrow. Should have done my homework locally but this guy has done work for us before. Maybe never again. Thanks for any feedback.

Sounds like a deal. I charge about $150 each side including the bearing to do them. Its a pain to do them. I have a whole setup I built to hold the knuckle in my press, makes it easy.

I took the assembly to them. I provided new Timken parts. You mean to tell me that just for that one task you can charge $150. I forgot to add the replaced the parking brake assembly too which I did not ask to be done. Was supposed to have been $90 just for the pressing.

Local guy was $97.00 for bearing and labor. Seems a bit high.

$150 is what I charge part and labor. Considering changing the rear wheel bearing is no "driveway" task like the front hub, $100 labor is worth it. Its a 1.5 hr job to the average mechanic. The E-brake is cake to replace with the flange off, a complete PAIN to replace with it installed. Its one of those do it while your there things.

You could go to harbor freight and do your own. If u plan on keeping the truck another worn bearing is certain to be coming soon.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I intend to keep it a while. A shop press may be a future purchase. Hopefully the Timkens will hold out a while.
