Well can just the front 1 one be changed w/ new guides ext..with out the others an pullin the head off? the only part thats nuts is how to time it ? really no marks on sprockets? sell it? thx all
It is unlikely that the primary (crankshaft to jackshaft sprockets) timing chain on a 1998 model SOHC V6 needs to be replaced. However, it is probable that your primary tensioner has failed. It is possible to replace the primary tensioner and guide without retiming the camshafts. You may want to read my helpful thread: SOHC V6 Timing Chain Inspection & Repair
