Well i haven't had to fix anything of note for some time now. Did the annual oil change last month but otherwise nothing.
Last week i had the week off, so i thought i would takle a couple of jobs. I have had an annoying little clunk from the o/s/f. Now i have had a new ball joint and arb bushes (courtesty of chris) for some time. My current bushes didn't look too bad but i thought as i have them then why not. I assumed the clunk was the ball joint as it was the same sort of noise i got on the n/s. I also have a little bit of a whine from the hub so i may swap that out at some point soon.
I got under the car and realised that the arb link was the one i fitted last year and as such the bushes on it could have settled a bit so worth a tighten. Well blow me that cured the clunk
. So no need to do the ball joint which suited me as i know what a ball ache it can be to do.
I still did the arb bushes. Once out one of the old ones was a little ovoid and both were heavily gouged in the inside. The brackets came off easy enough but they were very rusty. I cleaned em up with a hammer and wire wheel and coated them with ptfe spray before refitting. The ARB also got attacked with emery paper to smooth it up. The bushes got a generous coating of bush lubricant i got with a set of prothane bushes for my other car, nice sticky stuff should keep the bushes quiet for a good time.
So i still need to do the hub. Not looking forward to that as i have to pull the abs sensonr to swap over as the hub to go on is a used one from Saf.
I also fitted the locking cap i got from saf after taking it with me to get a second key cut.
Lastly i tried again to stick my heated rear screen connector back on the glass. This time i made sure the face of the connector was totally flat and the car was not driven (no vibration) for a couple of days to let the solution cure properly. Last time as soon as i tried to connect the wire it popped straight off and i haven't tried yet this time. We'll see
