I have a 99 Explorer sport. It has the 4.0 SOHC. I was told that that is unheard of that motor in that model truck. is that true? also what size is the gas tank on tha truck, gas milage i should be getting, miles on one tank of gas i should get? also when i put it in 4wd and actually put it to use the abs lite comes on but it goes off when i take it out of 4wd. what causes that

The motor is not unheard of. Im pretty sure that is the most common motor for a sport. They didnt have v8's

Gas tank is 17 gallons. I get around 16 mixed. (SOHC, 4dr.)

No clue on the ABS.

i was just wondering i thought it was common. i get just above 200 miles on a full tank. is that normal?

I have a 98 sport with the SHOC and I get about 230 to 280 miles a tank depending on how I drive. The worst mileage I got was about 14.8 mpg the best I have gotten was about 20 mpg. I have had my explorer for about 5 years now.

Is there any thing i can do to it to get better gas milage. also is it a 16 or 17 gallon tank.

i was wrong...its 17.5

I have never gotten more than 16 ion there....and thats sucking fumes...or so I thought

mine is a 17 gallon tank so yours should be the same.

EDIT: confirmed by consumer guide auto with 17.5
