Crazy check engine light explorer 2010

Hi to all, i have a crazy check engine light on and off, it come for 2 days and then disappeared for 2 or 3 weeks and so on, i used scan tool and there was P0401 code without any symptoms at all.

You need to replace your EGR valve. About $100. (Buy Motorcraft only) Takes about 15 mins and a few beers.

Thanks alot for your response, but i have some questions, can i replace it by myself??? and what are the symptoms of EGR valve faluire?? how can i make sure that valve is the problem ??

I currently have a CEL due to P0401 code. No difference in idle or anything. In fact the check engine light will disappear for a day and then come back on. No symptoms yet I know of. But if your going down that rabbit hole start with a Motorcraft EGR valve. Yes you can replace it yourself. Disconnect the wire connector and then there is 2 bolts holding it on. Its just a ***** to get to because of the Firewall and intake manifold. I know some people take off the intake manifold to make it easier. I have a socket set that will get to the 2 bolts no problem just too lazy to fix as of now and currently dealing with a cracked tone ring ATM. . Don't forget the beer!

Cheaper here. Do a search I have found the Motorcraft brand for pretty cheap I think ROCKAUTO.com will be your best bet.

Thats great but i am at Saudi Arabia and here only one dealer for motorcraft (i dont prefer online buy), by the way shall i disconnect the battery after replace the valve to reset CEL.

Disconnect the battery before you start any work on your vehicle. After your finished installing the new part. Reconnect the battery. You will then need to drive over 30 miles for the CEL to reset itself. Good Luck.

Hello. I have a similar car and I was told that is computer problem and you need to change the computer. After a while engine light remained on and the car is going ok for 2 years now. BTW how many MPG do make with your car
