My dads 96 had had the ABS light on for a long time. he decided this past weekend to take the bulb out of the dash which he successfully did.

Now he notices that the airbag light (which was also on) is no longer lit.
he only removed one bulb.

And he gets a series of 5 beeps, three times from the passenger kick panel area.

Ive searched the forum with no results similar...

Any ideas?

Beeping occurs when the airbag warning light on the dash burns out or is removed. Replace the bulb and it will go away.

Thanks for the response. I guess dad pulled the wrong bulb or something. Or maybe the ABS light is somehow connected to the Airbag light... At least we know what it is and he plans to put the bulb back in. :D

The airbag/ABS bulbs are part of vehicle safety features.
I think those there are "supervised" bulbs - when it goes out (burned or removed), the PCM sounds an audio alarm to warn you.

How nice of Ford to think of that

abs bulb out should not make a sound.

air bag bulb out, the air bag module will beep.

If ABS light is staying on all the time, should have the codes read at a brake shop. The generic readers at the parts stores do not pick up brake codes. Could be somthing simple like a bad sensor but often its a sign a hub is failing. Losing a tire while driving down the road is not a good thing!

ABS codes were read and both front hubs and speed sensor on the trans were replaced. light is still lit... the truck is not worth diagnosing further.. its not used for much more than a plow vehicle for the winter only.
