I bought a creative inspire 5.1 system for about $35 canadian, since it was missing the remote. I was in the process of trying to wire up a new one then it came across me.. perhaps i could use the speakers in the truck. I was thinking of mounting each speaker above the doors angled down towards whoever is sitting in each seat.

I plan on using the factory amplifiers (i added another amplifier) to power 4 of the 5 speakers (the other one can sit on a shelf somewere i guess). I also intend to use a connector i can plug the speakers into, therefor saving the wiring in case i ever want them back inside.

Would this probably be a big waste of my time is the main issue. I am not entirely sure how it will sound. I was hoping it would add some sound from above the listener to make the music sound more "full".

So you want to use 4 computer speakers with your stock amp in your truck instead of your 4 stock speakers? I'm not seeing where 5.1 comes into this

Oops forgot to add one small detail... I already have an aftermarket head unit :P

I just want to use 4 of the 5 (well 6) speakers using the factory amp while my door speakers are on the head unit. Sorry i wasnt all that detailed beforehand.

It would work, but wouldn't be very attractive...Heck, just do it:)

Sounds good.. lol.. one of these days i plan on doing something fun with the truck, i love messin with electrical.

cant imagine how good that'll look...but ooook!!

Oh she'll be @$$ ugly dont worry.... looks i dont really care too much about.

you are going to raise your sound stage WAY too high doing that and you are going to end up with some cancellation having them set up that way...

I guess it would be best to try by temporarily mounting them first, just a quick couple minutes, to see how it works...

I'm using Logitech computer speakers mounted to my rollcage for my front speakers and an Infinity powered sub in the back. Sounds very good actually:D

I was thinking of getting a set of logitechs.. but id end up actually using them for my pc lol.
