Hi all

I have a 94 explorer which runs great. The only thing is the infamous "I need it to get it warm for the tranny to get in second gear in the morning" thing, but after that it works like a charm.

The thing i noted yesterday on a 2 hour trip, is that when using the cruise control feature, I felt something like a hesitation going at 60 mph on a freeway. I could see my tach going from a little below 2000 rpm to just a little over 2000 back and forth like every 5 seconds or so.

The speed never decreased. It was steady at 60 mph.

All the gauges marked fine. Temp, oil pressure, battery, etc. The only light that was lit was the ABS one... but it lites every now and then.

Do you think it has something to do with the cruise control system or the tranny? I´ve disengaged the cruise control and the truck appeared to run ok... but I´m on my holiday trip tomorrow and just wanted a little reasurance.

Thanks in advance

were you going up a hill? you said speed never decreased, but you felt a hesitation?

cruise control will surge when the go bad. Sometimes very rapidly like mine does.
I'm not that fond of cruise control so it's not something I've investigated.

If you want more opinions about your engine you'd need to pull codes and present them

The trans not going into 2nd when cold is normally caused by a bad/sticky govenor(sp?). Its just a weight and won't be affected by the cruise, or affect the cruise control.

They are most likely seperate issues. The governor is a somewhat easy fix..

Thanks for your input guys! I´m buying the governor tomorrow.

Cheers and happy holidays!
