Custom Bumpers

Since push bars are pretty much non existent for a 91 Navajo does anyone know of a good looking custom bumper. I don't need one with a winch mount but I would like one that is strong and bigger than the stock bumper. To take the place of a push bar. I also would then need to know what to do with the turn signals since they hang down low on Mazda's. Steel tubing bumpers is preffered. Thanks.

I bought a westin push bar/brush guard for my 94 Navajo. The only cutting I had to do was to notch the vinyl cover on the top of the bumper for the upper mounts and since I had already trimmed the lower valance for my driving lights I didn't need to do anymore damage on the bottom. The only changes I need to make are to have some brackets made for the lower support so I can mount it to the frame to make it a little more sturdy.

Where did you order your Westin push bar from ? I couldn't find a web address. So I'm guessing you got it from a catalog. Also whats the price range on it? Thanks for the help.

They make a double tube front bumper with a hoop, winch or no winch. It's the one Rick has on his rig, as well as a few others. I believe it's priced somewhere around $250.

Also, the Duff bumper Paul has is really nice too.

Next week, I'm going to be installing a pair of smitty built bumpers (both the front and rear - both are mucked up). I drive a 93 Navajo - so I'm taking before & after pictures.

The front is one winch mount version - I figured if I don't put a winch there, I can put tow hooks.

The rear is also going to be modified for a hitch to be up in the bumer - that way, I've got less to drag on those steep downhill grades.

I'll let you know the results!

Who are you buying the Smittybilt bumpers from and how much for each? Was it hard to find the rear? The only Explorer I have ever seen with the Smittybilt rear bumpers is Paul Sabin's rig. It does look really nice.

Are you going to weld a 2" reciever hitch to the bottom of the rear bumper? I've had this idea also.

I got the bumpers from Explorer Express; they was left overs. They had both the front and rear, with the front having the winch mount.

I paid about $225/a piece for them.

It helped that I live in Oakland, they are in Richmond (about 15 miles away from me)

I had my front bumper custom made. The guy who helped me make it (He did most of the work since he is teaching me how to weld). I think he said he could make it for around $200. The following links are to pictures of it. The pictures are kinda big (300-500k)

I have a highlift mount on the front of mine but this was something we added after the bumper was built since I couldn't easily fit a 60 inch high lift jack in the truck. Once the rear bumper is made the high lift mount will go away. I have thwacked the bumper a few times on the trail and you can't tell. The paint is still perfect (it is ruberized undercoating). If you want I can get you touch with him to get more information on it.
